Creepy Crawlies

This is the time of year when I have to duck out of the way of cobwebs in the garden. I have many orb weavers working hard to create an obstacle course for me.

Below is a crab spider who has taken up residence in a cuphea plant. If you look closely, you might be able to see the web connected to it's abdomen.


Here, it is plotting to attack Nina the dog.

These orb weavers have established elaborate webs in my garden.


This one is very large and it has nabbed a honey bee. I looked it up on the web (no pun intended) and I believe it is called a Cross Orb Weaver. If you squint, you can see a cross pattern on it.

And if all of that is just too much for you, here is a soothing flower to calm you.

  2. Doh - you beaten me to it your big spider is known as the Garden Cross spider over here and we have a whopper sitting over the side kitchen window which may well get blogged.
