September Visitors

There has been a lot of traffic at the feeders lately. I have been seeing Chickadees, Bushtits, Northern Flickers, Red-breasted Nuthatches and Downy Woodpeckers (below) at the suet feeder on a regular basis.

American Goldfinches are visiting in huge flocks. I count about 30 birds on this feeder. How many do you see? I put Sunflower Chips on this tray and they polish it off in no time!

The Northern Flickers love this suet feeder.

I usually take my hummingbird feeders down in the summer because the hummingbirds love all my flowers and the feeders are high maintenance. I just put them up last week and they are feeding from them a little bit. I still have many flowers blooming which they prefer.

Lots of birds drink from this recirculating pump in our pond. This Black-capped Chickadee likes perching on the frog's head.

On Monday, Red-tailed Hawks were circling over my garden. The weather was lovely and they seemed to enjoy riding the currents.

What is autumn bringing to your garden?

  4. ...the chickadee sipping from the fountain is so cute!! My hummers love the Black and Blue salvia too. Every year a buy a bit more and keep it on the deck, then plant it in the yard in fall and it comes back the next year. Besides the Lucifer crocosmia, it's their favorite nectar source!!
