Perfect Apple Pie

Perfect Apple Pie

8 apples (approx)-choose a baking variety
1 can apple juice concentrate, thawed (this is the sweetener!)
1 Tbls. cinnamon (approx)
1 tsp. cloves (approx)
1/4 tsp. nutmeg (approx)
1/2 cup flour
cinnamon-sugar mix
butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Peel and dice the apples. In mixing bowl mix diced apples, apple juice concentrate, flour (to create thickened syrup as it bakes), spices to taste. Pour into unbaked pie crust. Add decorative crust on top if desired. On this pie I cut out fall leaves to decorate it. Criss-crossed strips on top look especially traditional and festive too. Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar and add a few dollops of butter. Bake till apples are tender and crust is golden brown, approximately one hour. If the crust is browning and apples are not cooked, add an aluminum foil cover and continue to bake.

Perfect Crust

1 3/4 Cup all purpose unbleached flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 Cup canola oil
3 Tbls. cold water

Mix all ingredients together with a fork. Roll dough out between waxed paper and transfer to pie dish. This recipe makes one shell. Double the recipe to have enough for the top of the pie.
