Ridgefield NWR- Part 3

This is the third installment of our New Year's Day of birding at Ridgefield NWR in Washington.

A classic Red-winged Blackbird in the Cattails.

Golden-crowned Sparrows were abundant on the paths and road.

You can see that this Song Sparrow had been foraging through the dirt for his food. He's got a dirty bill!

In years past we have seen Swans on the water and this year there were a lot too. They were quite a distance out, so binoculars and the scope were required to see them.

I think this is the only place I have ever viewed them.

I adore the Pintails and its always a treat to see them.

This male looks like he is all dressed in a suit and ready for his hot date!

This was another wonderful trip to Ridgefield and I'm looking forward to next year's annual trip.
