My Chickies Go to the Country

On Sunday, Blackie, Goldie, Delaware, Foghorn, Rhonda, and Barbara all went to their new country home near Lyons, Oregon. They were skeptical, but I convinced them they would be in heaven here!

Delaware is skeptical.

But it doesn't get much better than this!

Besides Chicken delivery, we walked around the garden and watched all the swallows. They have claimed their nest boxes.

My mom saved an old feather pillow and each year they throw out some of the feathers for the swallows to collect for nest building. Here my dad is tossing out some. If you look closely, you can see a blurry swallow right above his hand. They swoop in and catch the feathers on the fly. Eventually they collect the ones on the ground too.

Other birds are busy nesting too. This wren built a cozy nest in a roost pocket under the eave. Isn't that adorable?!
