*Another* Rainy Sunday

I woke this morning to find that it was dry outside and was hopeful. Silly me, the rain started shortly after that.

June is always a good month for my garden. Lots of things are in bloom and it has that bright-green-before-the-hot-summer-days look.

Note my peas on the left! I gotta get out there and harvest some more!

The mallards are still visiting and I try to keep them well stocked with cracked corn. Some days there are two of them.

And some days there are three of them.

I turned to indoor projects today instead of working in the wet garden. I am trying to make homemade yogurt for the first time. I found this website and I'm trying their instructions.
I am on step number seven which is "wait seven hours." See my note? I start step number eight at 7:30pm. Currently my yogurt is warming on a heating pad. I'll keep you posted and let you know if it's a success or failure. If it fails I'm only out a quart of milk and 3 Tablespoons of yogurt.

There's a peak under the towel. (Not much to see.)

And I made 9 half pints of raspberry jam sweetened with local honey. I am researching using some different types of canning lids due to BPA. I had some Kerr lids that didn't have the plastic coat, so I bought more and now they have the plastic. Seems Kerr and Ball are owned by the same company. I found a blog that had some good info and I think I'll look into the Tattler reusable lids. Have you heard of them or used them?

I've been designing my own labels for preserves and offering them as PDF's. If you'd like to see them, take a look at my etsy shop(pe)! I will be working on more designs soon and would love suggestions.

  2. The rain must be doing your yard some good...it looks so beautiful! I love the stacked pots and remember when you bought that! My daughter was complaining about the cold and rain in Seattle, too. Here it is way too hot! I could do with a little cool at the moment.
