Visiting the Country

I recently visited my parent's house. I got to check on my chickies. This could be Barbara the Barred Rock. Or not. There is more than one Barred Rock, so I can't be certain this is Barbara, although she is looking at me like she recognizes me, don't you think?

This is Delaware, the Delaware. Rumor has it she is VERY friendly and like to be picked up and carried around, which none of the others allow.

This Colchicum is most beautiful!

In my parent's greenhouse there are about a dozen of these nests. My mom says that she lets them be and they don't bother her at all. Hard to believe isn't it?

This flower, called Bee's Friend, seems to be a winner with bees. I hope to grow some next year.

I love this metallic green stripy one!

PeeGee Hydrangea

A butterfly that just wouldn't cooperate. Lorquin's Admiral?

And finally, the real reason for my visit.....

to meet Sammie, my parent's new puppy. I almost puppy-napped him. Wouldn't you??!!

  1. Great photos, I love the shots of Barbara and Delaware. The flowers are pretty and the bees are scary. But most of all I just love that puppy. I would want to take Sammie home too.

  2. Oh Michele! What a cuty! I had to resist heading out to my car on a puppy-napping trip right this moment!

oh, and by the way - nice photos as always.

  3. I love all these but I was intrigued by the uncooperating butterfly. The photo had a very elusive feel to it. So you really did capture it...

  4. That's a coincidence! I've just planted lots of Bee's friend (which I only knew by its latin name) on my new allotment, as a green manure. I'm tempted to leave it until the summer, to attract the insects!
