I hate to guess, but is it a Greater Yellowlegs? Hard to tell in these photos, but it did have yellow legs.
There seemed to be more Sandhill Cranes than last week. Many were flying over and I could hear them vocalizing all over the refuge.

I was excited to see this Fox Sparrow! I rarely see them. He was flocking with the Golden-crowned Sparrows and Juncos. They seemed to be eating berries.
This Red-tailed Hawk was preening. There appears to be a bit of meat on the log. Maybe he just finished a meal.
Sadly, I didn't see any Coyote,but I did see 28 bird species and have enjoyed my trips to Ridgefield so much lately that I purchased a yearly pass (well worth it!).
I'm glad you had a good trip even if there were no coyotes! I went up on Sunday afternoon and barely saw anything besides rainbows... That little Golden-crowned with its head turned around makes my neck hurt!

ReplyDeleteI love the one with the mist rising. I have coyotees on my property and have never manage to get a shot of them closer. I only have a small camera. But our resident heron after many years of living here finally this summer allowed me to get very close for some photos. He even sits in the trees now above our deck to catch the 1st morning rays.
