Holiday Goodness

A holiday garden bouquet.

This is my favorite color combination.

This morning I made some baked apples. They are easy and very delicious!

My Baked Apple Recipe:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Clean 6 apples (I used Golden Delicious from Hood River). Peel around the top of the apple and a few stripes down the sides. Using a knife or apple corer, remove the core of the apple, but leave the bottom to hold in the goodness.

In a bowl, mix together:
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup raisins
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Fill the apples with the mixture, heaping it up. Drizzle with a bit of agave syrup. Top with a dollop of butter. Place in a baking dish. Add a bit of water to cover the bottom of the dish. Bake for 20 minutes, basting the apples with the water occasionally. Cover with foil and bake till the apples are tender. Total bake time approx. 45 minutes.

Variations I found: use apple juice instead of water in the dish.
Use honey and/or agave instead of brown sugar.

Yummmmm:

  2. The apples look good but it is the greens in the cut glass vases that have my eye. Classy! With the greens and apples I am suddenly longing for smell-o-blog (I tried scratching the screen and all it did was scratch the screen)
