Foggy Ridgefield NWR

It was awfully foggy Monday morning, but I figured I'd give it a go anyhow. It might not be good for bird photos, but it was scenic.

All the rain and fog keeps the northwest green.

Red-winged Blackbirds singing in the cattails.

Great Blue Heron (can you see him?) and Coots.

You have to turn up the volume. There must be hundreds of geese, but i never could see them through all the fog.

The sun tried to peek out, and eventually did, but much later in the day.

Check back. Next time I will show you the cute birds I saw on the trail.

  1. I love the foggy forest shots... I'd blow those up and hang em on the wall!

  2. That next to the last shot, the trees in the fog across the water, is my favourite. Beautiful!

  3. Awesome fog pics. I always see things that I might otherwise miss in the fog. Sometimes I am reluctant to get started when all is gray, but I'm never sorry afterwards. I love the big views of a clear day, but the fairy land of a foggy day is bliss.

Did you walk the trail at the back of Ridgefield? I don't remember all the cedars...unless they are at the end of the road just before you hit the last open field near the river?

  4. Rainsong: I took the woodland photos on the road down to Ridgefield from the car. The Kiwa trail is closed now, but I walked up the little trail to the blind about midway through the auto tour. I have some photos of that area that I'll post later.

Thanks for all the nice comments!

  5. Wonderful photographs NW Nature Nut! Nice to get out in the fresh air. I bet you are longing for the warmer days when you can get out side without wearing so many outdoor clothes!
Your Squares have arrived this morning, thank you so...much!

Just in the process of loading them up.
