Yard Report

The yard has been very birdy lately. We have had chilly weather and they are eating a lot.
Yesterday I took some photos (through the window) of my visitors.

American Robin

Varied Thrush:::He likes to grab big chunks of the suet dough and run for cover under a bush and eat it in privacy. I don't think he likes all the activity of the other birds around when he is eating.

Spotted Towhee

Female House Finch

Scrub Jays love peanuts!

This Downy Woodpecker was a bit puzzled by the caged suet feeder. I see them go into it all the time, but he was leery of it.

Finally, he moved over a few feet to investigate the easy feeder.

Currently, one of my favorite birds, the Yellow-rumped Warbler has been visiting every day.

He eats the suet, but loves the suet dough when I scatter it on the ground.

If you want to see some pretty Ohio birds, check out Heather of the Hills and see who has been eating her suet dough.

  2. Some day I'm going to have to travel out west just to see birds like Scrub Jays and Varied Thrushes, both of which are knock-out birds! Thanks for the mention, by the way. I don't usually put my dough on the ground b/c I can't see who's eating it on the ground unless I peer over the side of our deck. Also, our dog always goes rooting around under the feeders when he gets a chance, and he looooovvves dough, but I didn't make it for him! ;)
