Garden Visitors

I have been seeing a lot of Swallowtails around the area. Every year they go to this Mock Orange, which by the way is *wonderfully* sweet smelling.

I assume this is a bullfrog and I know they are invasive, but it's a treat to see him in my pond. I have startled him off a rock many times in the last couple of weeks. He always sees me before I see him.

  1. I love the frogs and toads.
I feel a personal relationship with the green toad that inhabits my 2-foot diameter lake. It sits very still as I weed or mow around it.

  2. Mock Orange dogwoods are such a pleasure. Their smell is heavenly and, at least here, it always seems to blossom when other things are taking a break, like right after the lilac blooms have withered.

A belated happy 4th to you!
