20 Minutes at the Feeders
At 12:30 everyone showed up at the feeders. The Bushtits are back in a flock which has been fun. Other visitors during the twenty minute feeding frenzy included: Black-capped Chickadees, Chestnut-backed Chickadees, American Goldfinches, House Finches, Red-breasted Nuthatches, Towhee, and a Song Sparrow (watching from a safe distance).

Ahhh, backyard birding never fails to delight! I love the mingling of the different species in your photos! One of my Flickers was taking its evening dust bath when a little Bewick's wren bopped on by and decided to join him. It was the highlight of my day!

ReplyDeleteJust a heads-up re: the shepherd's hook-like feeder holder. Yours might be a better design than the one I had bought, so it may not happen to you. What happened was a little sparrow must have slipped on the bar (or maybe there was a bird fight?), anyway the little bird got her head caught between the iron bars and accidently hanged herself. After drying my tears, I gave her a good garden burial, but I made sure to wrap some good electrician's tape around the iron so as to eliminate that dangerous "vee" space.
