Ridgefield This Morning

First bird seen- at the kiosk- Eurasian Collared Dove. It was calling to another
one that was over by the river.

Are these just mallards? No male around to help me ID them.
They look different than mallards to me.

 On the Kiwa Trail:::

Saw a couple of Egrets, then drove a bit and
saw over two dozen flocked together.

Haven't seen Kingfishers much, and lately they are everywhere! Love it!

Far in the distance I saw a coyote with a little one tagging along. I barely could see them with binoculars, much less get a photo. I sure hope I can catch them next time- motivation to go back soon!

  2. Hey Nature Nut,

    Just found your blog and it's been a lot of fun to read!
    I love how much the landscape comes into play with your photos--more than just the usual 'bird-on-a-stick' rigamarole.

    Looks like you've got a family of manky Mallards in that second photo, but I think my favorite is the Wilson's Snipe hiding out in photo 3.
    I'm looking forward to following your posts.

    Thanks for sharing,
    Laurence Butler

    1. Thank you so much for the compliments. I strive to capture the bird in their environment and the feel of the place so I'm glad that came through. Thanks for visiting!

  3. Dang that's a lot of egrets! My favorite is the nuthatch- I love their funny tree poses. And seriously, as Laura said, those doves are taking over!
