How many can you identify 1-12? (answers next time!)
Recipe:
1/2 pound cinnamon
17 oz. applesauce
1 oz. Elmer's glue
Place
cinnamon in large bowl. Add glue and gradually add enough applesauce to
get a slightly firm dough. Roll out to 3/8" to 1/2". Cut out with
cookie cutters. Use a straw to make a hole in top of ornament for
ribbon. Let dry at room temperature or bake at 200 degrees for 1 hour
and then let dry completely.
(I actually used a recipe from HERE, but cut it in half and even so it made enough dough for a million ornaments, so this is a quarter of the recipe I used.)
Oh boy, a test! 1. Oregon junco. 2.CB Chickadee. 3. BC Chickadee. 4. Spotted Towhee. 5. Red-winged BLackbird. 6. GC Kinglet? 7. WC Sparrow. 8. Ruby-crowned Kinglet? 9. Yellowthroat. 10. RB Nuthatch? 11. Umm... Townsnend's Warbler Oriole hybrid. 12. Snowy Owl.

Well I guess you're the only one that wants to play my little game! Snowy Owl!? What are you drinking/smoking?! You got them all right and I won't take the Townsend's/Oriole Hybrid personally. My painting skills are developing. It is a Townsend's and the last one is a Wilson's Warbler. I have been searching the web for other cookie cutters. There is a "seagull", owl, cardinal, but no other birds. I really wanted a Northern Shrike :)
ReplyDeleteOoh a shrike would be cool, guess you'll have to trace one out yourself! I have a gull cookie cutter but its in flight and not that recognizable.
