Tualatin River NWR

Blending in...

Like moving bark.

These sneaky little devils were in and out of the ferns and forest flora. So hard to catch in the open!

I got to Tualatin River NWR nice and early. I learned after last time to get there before the families with yelling, running kids come out for a Sunday walk. The place was really active with birds and there was a bit of sunshine. The best birding I've had a in a while, in fact.

Back at home I counted birds for the Great Backyard Bird Count. I was happy this Varied Thrush made an appearance for the count. A Steller's Jay was the other backyard highlight- an infrequent visitor.

  4. There's been a varied thrush hanging out in northern OH this winter, which is atypical. I love your picture of that super pretty bird!
