Early yesterday morning the Kiwa Trail was full of birdsong. Lots of winnowing Wilson's Snipe, Sora, and Virginia Rail. The sunshine and warm temps made for a pleasant walk. We could see two Great Horned Owlets from the road in the usual trees, but they were kind of obscured and I didn't get any good photos. Besides the awesome view of the Bittern, the other highlight was Yellow Warblers. 61 species for the day!

  1. Cripes, maybe we need to go to the Kiwa Trail for Birdathon next year! I love the frogs getting nookie in the nooks.

  2. Your Western Garter snakes look a bit different than our Easterns. Love your pictures as always.

  4. I am pretty sure that turtle is about to nip that Gadwall on the butt! Great post, I am almost motivated to get back up to Ridgefield after looking at these.
