Lookout Mountain in Hood River County was a great hawk watching spot yesterday. We arrived around 11:30am and hiked up the short trail to the top. Over a few hours we saw 38 individual raptors and 26 species of birds.
A beautiful view of Mt. Hood from our stake out.
Lichens at 6500'.
A number of Ravens put on a good show and escorted raptors through the valley. They often alerted us to a new bird on the way.
We counted 11 Sharp-shinned Hawks.
By 3:30 clouds started moving in and the temperature dropped.
This little guy had quite the panoramic view from his hide-y hole.
wonderful photos! looks amazing up there. is this one of those places you need a 4x4 to get to?
ReplyDeleteSuch a good idea- hawkwatching without the uncomfortable viewing of bait birds. I like it.
