Dawson Creek
Before we get to the very ho-hum bird photos, I HAD to show you this Amaryllis that is in full bloom right now! Isn't it just beautiful!!? The weather here has been rain and clouds for what seems like forever. I couldn't take being cooped up in the house any longer yesterday afternoon, so we went over to Dawson Creek. I was hoping we would see the Great Horned Owls that we have seen in past years. When I looked back, I can see that we might be a little early for them. There were still some ducks around. Besides the ones I photographed, we saw Northern Shovelers and Bufflehead. If it weren't for their coo-ing, I would never have seen these doves. They blend in really well! Budded Oregon Grape --so pretty with bits of pink showing. Can you see her?----- Do you think Mama Mallard is sitting on eggs already?

Beautiful photos. I love the last one with the duck hiding in the reeds.
ReplyDeleteI used to live along a creek with friendly ducks and a couple of geese. I sure miss that, especially when I see ducky pics like these.
ReplyDeleteWe looked for the Great Horned Owls at there usual nest site a few weeks ago and did not find them. It looks like they have picked a new nest site.
ReplyDeleteamazing wonder of nature
